Area Meeting Reports

2009

March 2009

Thank you all for attending today. It was a surprise to see so many kits on a day that the weather men/women promised heavy rain and high winds.

Actual the day started cold but very sunny which of course bring us all out in our cars.

It was good to see a few new faces in the club; sorry if I didn’t get a chance to talk to you.

New faces were Gavin Macfarlene, Grant, Dan Robertson & Ken Mason. (Unless I’ve missed someone)

So what’s happening?

Camping weekend Dunwich 16/17 May

It’s not too late to join us we are joining members of the SG7 kit car group at Dunwich.

Detling Kit Car Show 12/13th Apr

Only a slight interest in this one this year, those that might go say they want to wait until the weekend of the show before deciding (there is no point in planning to go and then the weather being unsuitable) Our next Diss meeting is on the 12th Sunday so we can decide then if we want to go on the 13th Monday.

Norfolk Police Gala Day 6th September

This is probably our best local show of our shows season. This has now been handed over to the Showground ltd. This change now means we have to pay (£5) per car, which isn’t really a problem. The problem is the organizer wanted the money two weeks ago.

I now have ten cars wanting to attend and payment for nine of them.

If you would like to join us, please let me know ASAP. I will need your cheque or cash for £5 before the 15th of March. Any later than that, you can still go but will have to arrange this with the organizer direct.

Two Counties show 28th June

Show being held at a Newmarket race course promises to be a great day out.

I now have 8 cars wanting to attend.

I was told that we had 25 cars present when we entered the hotel, when we came out I noticed Stuart had arrived in his MNR. But after counting up the names and looking through the photos, I had taken, I still only make it 25 kits present. Still a great turn outJ

 Next Diss meeting  13th September

September 2009

After receiving ten messages over the last few week apologising for not being able to attend, it seemed that the September meet was going to be thin on the ground. Then yesterday the weather was absolutely brilliant, of course this sort of weather brings these cars out in hordes, so maybe it won’t be too bad I thought.

On the day the weather was quite cold and cloudy, but this didn’t deter the members as we had 18 kit cars present during our time at the Hotel.

We again had a few new faces these were Brian & Diane Jacobs in their Westfield, Deltron in his Locust, Phil Lewis in his Robin Hood Exmo & Susan and Ken Keith brought their Robin Hood S7 to the club for the first time. Mark brought along an enthusiastic new member John he plans to build a car for track and road use.

Next meeting 11th October

October 2009

Well our penultimate meeting of the year for those not doing the Christmas meal.

Combinations of things put me in a bad mood today starting with the road from Thetford to Diss being blocked and no diversions in place so a nice drive around the lovely country roads was in order. This was followed by a very busy Park hotel so we ended up in very small room. Food service was atrocious, with Paul and Nicky having to wait for their sandwiches for 1 ½ hours and that was after the staff were asked about them on three occasions. To be honest I don’t think we would have ever been called to go and get our cavery; it was only that one member took it upon his self to go and get his, which started us all off

Again we keep bringing in new faces to the Club. These were Alan and Dawn looking for a kit car, Richard and Linda in there Mojo, Will in a Tiger and Jonathon in a Robin Hood.

It was a shame that Andy and Michaela had to pull out of the Christmas meal this year but we did have another five ask to be added.

No other business due to the time of year.

November 2009

Well it’s that time of the year. Our last meeting for 2009 and what a good meet it was with 16 kits in the car park, one of them being yet another new member (Mark Earl).

Of course the weather was in our favour yet again, long may it last.

Nothing much to talk about today, I sorted the Christmas meal menus.

I mentioned I will be working on the website over the winter break (Basically making some space).

Changing to a Subscription system to pay for items needed by the club and the website was talked about and also a donation scheme, but it was decided in the end to stick to the system in place at the moment. The pot will continue to be handed around at future meetings.

The Norfolk and Suffolk owners club will be meeting after our meeting. They continue to meet throughout the winter months so feel free to join them at any time. I will try and keep you up to date with their meetings.
