Area Meeting Reports.

2013

March 2013

Hello.

Thank you for attending today. Considering the fact it is mother’s day and the weather (snow, sleet and cold)

I am lucky any of you turned out.

I would like to say a special thank you to those that came out in there kit cars.

I will start with the good news.

We have had eight new members join the club over the winter break.

3 RHOCAR members and 5 EAKCC.

Calendar

I added a calendar to our website this is to replace the events list I have used in previous years.

I send out an e mail to the then 95 members to get some feedback and received 6 e mails back saying they liked the idea.

Do I assume the other 89 members don’t like the idea or don’t care?

The calendar allows me to be a bit more specific and give a lot more details about events.

It was explained to me that I needed to be a bit more specific. If you click on the event title on the calendar it will open up and reveal more information about the event, members didn’t realise this and as such they didn’t have comments to make.

Please take a look through it and you will see what I have planned for the coming year so far.

Mobile network.

I sent out two emails, one to all members explaining the mobile network and how it works and got a lot of positive response. From this email I added 7 new contacts to the list.

Before, I sent out the updated list, I Decided to check the remaining members of the schemes list, to ensure their detail are still correct.

This e mail was titled Mobile network check.

Again I was disappointed with the response that I received.

Out of the 34 members that were sent the email, 14 didn’t reply.

I will chase up the regulars on this list that haven’t replied and delete those that I haven’t seen for a while others

Events.

Detling Kit Car show 13th/14th April.

The 14th clashes with our next meeting, I may go along on the 13th dependant what I’m doing and the weather forecast.

I will let you know if I go.

26th Rickinghall 3 day car-motor cycle show with pie & ale festivalþ March 31th (Easter Sunday)

I won’t be attending. Just off the A143 between Scole and Stanton.

Does anyone else wish to attend?

These two events clash most members present thought it best to attend Palgrave on Saturday and Newark on Sunday

Newark kit car show I will again apply for a club pitch at the Newark Kit Car Show this year.

I need to give an estimate of number of cars expected on our pitch. I got a show of hands from ten for Sunday.

Kimbolton Country Fayre 14th July

This event clashes with some attending Goodwood festival of speed and our July meeting.

Should we do all three?

I was advice to ask this question again at our April meet.

August meeting

Unfortunately I won’t be Available for this meeting so the date has been rearranged for the third Sunday of the month (18TH).

Norwich Charity Motor Show & Family Fun Event 2013 http://www.norwichmotorshow.co.uk/

There is a show on the 10th& 11th August, this used to be at the rugby club and it has out grown that location so it is relocating and increasing the transport theme to include Kit Cars and Hotrods, looks to me to be a bit like the gala show used to be.

It is being held at the Norfolk show ground.

I’m collecting names of those that wish to attend this event.

Venue

The Crown Inn has been taken over. Our new contact is named Norman he is the new bar manager. We were treated very well today (we were made to feel welcome)

We used the function room that is just perfect for our meetings. Meals remained the same and remained the same price.

We will be able to park our cars on the village green at future meets. Please don’t abuse this privilege.

Anyone got anything else they would like to raise?

Alan said that T Shirts and Hoodies are still available and we may be able to broaden the range to include crew shirts and mugs prices to be ascertained.

Our next club meeting is April 14th at the Crown Inn Pulham Market

Please arrive any time after 10.30 I will hold the club meeting in the function room at 12

April 2013

Hello.

Thank you to those that attended today. It was such a lovely day to be driving our cars, and first big show of our cars  at this venue.

(20 Kit cars)

Mobile network.

Now sorted and all scheme members should have received the latest version via e mail. Some members informed me that they haven’t received their update. I did a check and found that 12 of the scheme members had been removed from the e mail group (following on from my problems with outlook last week I guess).

All should be sorted now. The latest version is 2013.2

Norwich Classic car show and fun day 2nd June

 E mail from Mark Clarke

Martin, the Norwich classic car club show/fun day is confirmed on 2nd June 2013 at Anglian windows social club (same as last year. hopefully weather will be better with a lot more cars as well as other attractions). The club was given a DAF 46 earlier this year which is currently being restored & will be raffled off at the show (all money going to charity), for the price of £2.50 a ticket someone will be driving off in a completely restored on the road classic, (to do with what they wish, if my ticket is the one I will be selling it on but someone may want to keep it, not my choice of car).  Nearer the time if you could confirm if your club will be attending, again I will reserve you a pitch if required.

Please let me know ASAP if you also wish to attend so I can book a big enough pitch.

Weekend of the 15th & 16th June 2013

If we choose the Old Ram the date may change to Sunday 15th.

Please let me know if you would like to be added to the list.

Our next club meeting is October 13th at the Old Ram Tivetshall St Mary

October 2013

Well today was a meeting or two with a difference.

It had been suggested by one member that we have a breakfast meet at Mr D?s diner and then drive in convey together to the Old Ram for the club meet as normal.

This involved an earlier start and the weather was against us, it had been raining almost all week but Saturday was dry most of the day, however Saturday night the heavens opened and they decided not to close, until well after we had met at the diner.

Two of us braved the weather in our kits the remainder decided to use their tin tops (and who can blame them) we ended up with 12 of us present at the diner.

We arrived for 9 am and sat down for a great meal with excellent service from the staff. It was fun as it always is, but this was made even funnier by the menu choice titles. These included a fat boy, a little buddy, a tall stack and a short stack; well you can imagine some of the insults that went around from the normal suspects.

We left the diner at 10.30 and headed to the Old Ram. This was fourteen miles on some lovely country roads with some lovely bends. (It would be even better on a dry day)

We arrived at the Old Ram and the sun came out to greet us. We were joined at the venue by two more that had braved it in their kit cars and more wise types in their tintops. The sun had faded before we headed home, but at least it was only drizzle this time. I must say a great day out despite the weather.

Next year I will plan two Breakfast meets at the diner (hopefully on dry days)

Obviously at this time of the year I have very little to do/discuss at the club meet.

Christmas Lunch 14 December

Today I collected most of the Christmas meal deposits, those that haven?t paid yet can pay at the November meeting.  If you can?t make the November meet please contact me to arrange to send me your deposit via cheque. All deposits must be received before the 18th November please.

If you haven?t booked to join us at the Christmas lunch it?s not too late, just contact me and let me know if you wish to join us.

Norwich charity Motor Show 20th July 2014

We have been asked to book early for this event if we want a pitch this year.

The show runs over two days but we have decided as a club to just attend on the Sunday. I have provisionally booked us a pitch for twenty cars.

I have so far made a list of 19 cars to attend.

If you would like to join us at the show please let me know.

I realize that it is early to commit to a show so far off, but it?s better to book 25 places and only have 20 cars on the day than book 20 places and then have to tell members they can?t attend because we don?t have enough space booked.

Our next and last meet for 2013 is on the 10th November at the Old Ram.

November 2013

Thank you to those that attended today. Such a lovely dry day but man was it cold.

Christmas Lunch 14 December

I collected the remaining deposits and Menu choice forms.

Also Trevor and Sharon are to join us there.

I will go over to the Stag and pay the deposits during the week.

If you haven?t booked to join us at the Christmas lunch it?s not too late, just contact me and let me know if you wish to join us.

Venue

My plan is to book this venue (the Old Ram) again for next year unless one of you has a reason you feel we shouldn't.

All agreed to continue at the Old Ram for the time being So next year is booked.

Ideas for next year

Duxford, Stow Maries Aerodrome museum, Coast run, Some Breakfast Starts. It was suggested that we hold the breakfast starts on none club meet days, It was felt that it is only fair to get our food at the pub when we hold our meeting there and not eat elsewhere before we get there, so we may have breakfast starts before shows or the coast run.

Any more ideas please let me know.

Not much to discuss again today so I thought I would add a bit of information for your interest.

Club membership

I'm often asked how many members we have in the club, by members and the general public while at shows etc.

To answer this you have to define what a member is.

Membership into our club is made in several ways,

RHOCAR (East Anglia) I run the East Anglian section of the Robin Hood Owners club and register

And the EAKCC which I formed in 2008

RHOCAR members join the national club and I receive their details. I automatically enrol them into the EAKCC.

If anyone asks to be made a member to the EAKCC I make them a member.

If anyone turns up at a club meet or show I automatically make them a club member.

They remain a member until.

If anyone doesn?t attend any event or show over a 24 months period I remove them from the club Data list. (Although I leave them on the e mailing list in case the e mails prompt them to return)

I remove those none active members at this time of the year.

This month I have removed 15 from this list.

This leaves us with 98 members at the moment. (Both RHOCAR 19 and EAKCC) 79

30 of these members have not attended anything this year.

We have recruited 22 members in 2013.

16 of these joined as EAKCC members.

6 as RHOCAR members.

9 of these new members have not attended anything this year.

5 of the EAKCC members and 4 of the RHOCAR members.

(The question is Why Join a club, and then never attend any meets or shows?)

Insurance reduction was thought to be one reason.

With all that in your minds, I would like to thank you all for your attendance/ interest and input over the last twelve month.

And I hope to see you all again next year

Our next and first meet for 2014 will be on the 9th March at the Old Ram.
